Palmerston North - Student City
On the way down to Wellington I stopped off in Palmerston North for a couple of days. The city has one of the countries largest universities which is very noticeable. Every corner there is a student bar, Nice.
My time was spent wandering around the city, and a lovely place it is to. They have an international rose garden where people from all over the world can plant new hybrid roses and judges test there performance. So yes, Just a big park full of thousands of plants.Just down the road form the roses it became clear why New Zealand children are so good at sport. The play grounds they have here are immense - you could hurt your self on them. None of this padded ground the wimpy English children enjoy this play area was built in the woods with no form of safety nets. And the kids, well they were hanging from the trees and loving it. (I was almost tempted to get involved)
The main bit of action over the few days I was there was a fire in the local power station plunging the city in to darkness - well it was daytime so not that dark. The amassing thing though was that no one was complaining, bitching or trying to blame some one. The entire city just accepted the fact that there was no power and shut up shop and went and sat out in the grassy parks. These people are nearly as laid back as I am.
